If you haven’t been hanging out for news about this year’s Brisbane Writers Festival guests, you might not know this bit of information yet. Last week when I was at the State Library, I picked up a pamphlet about Word Play, which is the BWF program for young readers, storytellers, and illustrators (grades prep-12). And what did I see while I was flipping through it?
That’s right. Cassandra Clare and Holly Black are coming to Brisbane in September 2015, right around the release of The Copper Gauntlet (the second book in their Magisterium series). I’m also super excited about John Marsden (the Tomorrow series) and Emily Rodda (Deltora Quest) appearing at the festival because that is basically my childhood sorted. Early bird tickets for Word Play went on sale today so book in ASAP!
For those of you (like myself) who left school long ago, usually BWF guests have open signings and you can just wander in when they’re scheduled to sign. But if you actually want to see Cassandra Clare in action (and probably Holly Black), you might be in luck! Because right at the end of the Word Play pamphlet was this:
You tell me right now that ‘talk about love, community and Shadowhunters’ doesn’t sound like Cassandra Clare is stopping by. I went to the Love YA events last year and they were awesome and FREE. Plus another opportunity for signings and general awesomeness. WHO’S EXCITED? SEE YOU THERE, GUYS.
