Join me for my October book challenge!

Welcome to my October book photo challenge! Join me on Instagram for a fun month of book photography, or play along here on WordPress or on Tumblr or Bloglovin’! Just let me know which platform you’re on so I can come and stalk your pictures 🙂

Want to know more about the prompts? Everything is explained here. Just remember, these explanations are for inspiration or guidance. You can interpret any of the prompts however you choose.

  1. Past: A book that you’ve read in the past/a book set in the past.
  2. Present: Your current read OR an actual present! Not gonna lie, I kind of set this prompt for my birthday.
  3. Future: Unread books/books set in the future.
  4. Fangs: This is the first of a few Halloween-ish prompts this month! Post about a werewolf, vampire or other creature with fangs. Not a fan of fantasy? Post about a pet or a book that you (metaphorically) devoured. Okay, you can also post about a book that you literally devoured if you’re feeling that.
  5. Teacher: It’s World Teachers’ Day! Post about your favourite teacher, real or imaginary. And if you ARE a teacher, let us know why you love teaching!
  6. Wonderland: It’s Mad Hatter Day! Celebrate with a Wonderland-themed photo, or describe what your own personal Wonderland would look like.
  7. Awareness: During October, we raise awareness for a number of great causes. Pick whichever one speaks to you and post about it to help raise awareness in your own way. Stuck for ideas? You can check out a list here.
  8. Haunt: Another Halloween-themed prompt! Post about ghosts, a book that haunts you, or your favourite local hang-out.
  9. Post: It’s World Post Day! Postcards, letters, packages and epistolary novels welcome!
  10. Mental Health: It’s World Mental Health Day! Representation is incredibly important, so share books that include characters with mental health problems.
  11. Quantity: A book series that seems to go on forever.
  12. Quality: Your favourite standalone book, or your favourite book within a series.
  13. Thriller: Murders, mysteries, intrigue! Other things! A thrilling read.
  14. Toy: On this day in 1926, the first Winnie-the-Pooh book was published. Post with (or about) your favourite childhood toy!
  15. Creepy: You know the type. The books that just make your spine tingle.
  16. Shelfie: Forget shelf control! Post a shelfie for shelf love.
  17. Mask: Heaps of awesome literary characters wear masks, both metaphorical and literal. Post about one! (Or more. You do you.)
  18. Revolution: You want a revolution? I want a revelation! And yes, I was totally listening to Hamilton when I was drafting these prompts. Your favourite revolution, real or fictional.
  19. Note: A note, a notebook or a music note.
  20. Angle: Make angles with your books or take a photo from a weird angle.
  21. Spell: A magical spell, a spelling bee, or a word that you love.
  22. Back: Baby got back covers! I don’t know about you, but I just don’t appreciate back covers enough so this is my chance to make amends.
  23. Villain: Or anti-hero—whatever floats your boat.
  24. Potion: You can go magical with this one, or you can have a very Muggle potion in the form of a drink or some kind of baking wizardry.
  25. Day: Sunlight, or bright-coloured books.
  26. Night: A night-time shot, sunset, books that remind you of night.
  27. Worlds: Different dimensions/realities or characters that are worlds apart.
  28. Black: Black books, black humour, black anything you want to talk about.
  29. Orange: Orange you glad you get to work with this colour? Seriously though, orange books are surprisingly pretty.
  30. Wrap-up: What books did you read this month?
  31. Trick or treat: You get to choose! This is basically a freebie post so you can take a photo of anything you want.

There we have it! I hope you can join me for the #AmpersandOct16 challenge! Let me know that you’re participating by commenting/reblogging so I can check out your photos!
