Volume 17 of The YA Chronicles is the first box of 2017! And it’s been a pretty fabulous start to the year.
The theme was DID SOMEONE SAY FANTASY?, and the box featured items from some of the best-known fantasy series at the moment.
This print, inspired by A Darker Shade of Magic, hails from Miss Phi. I’m about to start reading this series, so I’m really excited to learn more about it!
These fantasy-themed prints are from Tales Fantastic. I absolutely love the whimsical nature of this artwork. You should definitely check out the online store to see more from this artist. Or you can visit her Instagram.
Aside from the monthly book, we received 2017 Penguin Teen Australia Superproof and it looks amazing. This book is full of snippets from novels due to be released by Penguin this year, and contributors include Fleur Ferris, Kiersten White and Megan Jacobson.
This bookmark from Behind the Pages is all about The Raven Cycle. I’ve heard such amazing things about this series. I’ll get to it eventually, but I really hope it lives up to my expectations.
And no fantasy box would be complete without a Lord of the Rings reference! The box featured a necklace of the One Ring (complete with the Black Speech inscription), and I gave Funko Sauron a chance to hold it for a photo before stealing it back.
The book of the month is A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess. The first in a new fantasy series about a Henrietta Howel, a female sorcerer brought to London to hone her skills. Holy cover love, Batman! I’m such a sucker for swirly smoke patterns on book covers.
