Join me for my July 2018 book photo challenge!

Welcome to my July photo challenge! This year, all my monthly Instagram challenges will be going under the hashtag #Ampersand2018, though I’ll be creating prompts for each month as usual.

I’ve given ideas for each prompt below, but you can interpret them however you choose! Don’t forget to check out my tips for conquering a book photo challenge!

  1. Progress: We’re halfway through 2018! How much progress have you made on your TBR or your reading goals for this year?
  2. Diary: How do you keep track of your reading? This is also a great opportunity to celebrate the anniversary of the publication of Chamber of Secrets!
  3. Recommend: Recommend some of your favourite underrated books!
  4. Free: It’s the Fourth of July! I’m in Australia so this holiday doesn’t really have any bearing on me—just use this as free rein  to post any picture you like.
  5. Neutrals: Take a photo of some neutral tones – creams, browns, whites, blacks and greys.
  6. Unexpected: A book or series you weren’t expecting to like. Or one you weren’t expecting to dislike!
  7. Forgive: A character who needs forgiveness. Or forgive yourself for your guilty-pleasure reads.
  8. Double: Duologies, twins, multiple copies. This is also the publication anniversary for both Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire!
  9. Merch: Celebrate #bookishmerchmondays with your favourite book merch.
  10. Between: Make a tough choice between two of your favourite authors or books, or choose between this world and your favourite fantasy world.
  11. Iconic: Celebrate the publication anniversary of To Kill a Mockingbird with a photo of your favourite iconic books, characters, or quotes.
  12. Never: Books that are taking FOREVER to be released. Like the next installment in A Song of Ice and Fire. Come ON, George R.R. Martin.
  13. Multitask: How do you make time for reading? Do you read one book at a time or switch between several?
  14. Wood: Take your book outdoors,  or accessorise with earthy tones.
  15. Protect: Characters you want to protect at all costs.
  16. Snake: It’s World Snake Day, which coincides perfectly with the publication anniversary of Half-Blood Prince. Get snaky with a Slytherin-themed photo, or talk about an untrustworthy character.
  17. Emoji: It’s World Emoji Day! What are some of your most-used emojis?
  18. Distract: What distracts you from reading?
  19. Hold: Books you’ve had to put on hold until you’re in the right mood.
  20. Pieces: A book that left you in pieces.
  21. Seven: Seventh books in a series, etc. It’s the publication anniversary of the Deathly Hallows!
  22. Shelving: Shelfie Sunday time!
  23. Hide: Books you’ve hardly ever posted about.
  24. Theme: Do you have a theme for your Instagram account? Or do you prefer to play it by ear?
  25. Disagree: Unpopular opinions time! Share some bookish things you really disagree with.
  26. Balance: Try balancing some books, or talk about how you keep a healthy balance in your life!
  27. Mission: A book that was a real mission to get through, or a book with a mission in it.
  28. Art: Show off some gorgeous bookish art prints or illustrations.
  29. Stripes: Books with stripes, or create a stripy pattern with books.
  30. Almost: It’s Neville Longbottom’s birthday! Talk about your favourite characters who were almost heroes.
  31. Wrap-up: What books did you read this month?

I hope you can join me for #Ampersand2018 on Instagram! Let me know that you’re participating by commenting/reblogging so I can check out your photos!
