Join me for my August 2018 book photo challenge!

Welcome to my August photo challenge! This year, all my monthly Instagram challenges will be going under the hashtag #Ampersand2018, though I’ll be creating prompts for each month as usual.

I’ve given ideas for each prompt below, but you can interpret them however you choose! Don’t forget to check out my tips for conquering a book photo challenge!

  1. Invent: August is Inventor’s Month! Celebrate with a photo of some of your favourite books with awesome technology and/or incredible inventors.
  2. #whenigrowup: I absolutely loved the film adaptation of Matilda, and today is the anniversary of its release in the US. Get creative and take some inspiration from this bookworm’s magical story.
  3. List: TBR lists, shopping lists, review lists … the list is never-ending! How do you keep track of things?
  4. #stacksaturday: Stack up as many books as you can, but be careful! My stacks always have some kind of structural issues.
  5. Case: Mystery novels or a book that’s a special case (e.g. one book you like from a genre you don’t enjoy, etc.)
  6. #bookclub: Have you ever been part of a book club? How do you decide what to read? If you’ve never been in a book club, what would you set as the first book for your own club?
  7. Regret: A book you wish you’d read sooner, or a book you wish you’d liked better.
  8. #booksandpets: It’s International Cat Day! But since not everyone is a cat person (???????????? how?), feel free to share a photo with any pet you have, or a fictional pet you wish you could have.
  9. Booklover: Celebrate Book Lovers Day with your favourite books.
  10. #lazyday: What’s your ideal lazy reading day?
  11. Heroine: It’s Ginny Weasley’s birthday! Show off some of your favourite bookish heroines.
  12. #shelfiesunday: Stop, drop and shelfie!
  13. Error: WHOOPS! Have you ever dropped a book in the bath or bent the cover accidentally? Have you ever forgotten to return a book to the library? Confess to all your bookish errors.
  14. #timetravel: Your favourite bookish time-travelers, or a time you’d love to travel to.
  15. Prefer: How do you like to read? Paperback? Hardback? Ebook? Audiobook?
  16. #eatyourwords: A book you never thought you’d read (or like).
  17. Tiny: The itty-bitty details on a book cover, a little bookish accessory, or books that are actually tiny.
  18. #onthego: How do you prepare for a day spent out and about? How many books are you trying to cram into your bag?
  19. Struggle: Books you’ve struggled to finish (or start).
  20. #mapmonday: Your favourite bookish maps!
  21. Adaptation: There are so many wonderful books being adapted for film and TV. What are some of your favourites, or some of the ones you’re most looking forward to?
  22. #coverlove: PRETTY BOOKS EVERYWHERE.
  23. Eight: The eighth book in a series, eight books in a row, or a book with the word/number eight in it.
  24. #fandomfriday: What’s your go-to fandom?
  25. Colour: Books in your favourite colour.
  26. #currentread: What are you currently reading?
  27. Perfect: Celebrate the anniversary of the original Mary Poppins movie’s release with a photo of a books that’s practically perfect.
  28. #teatuesday: Drink up, buttercup! If you’re not a fan of tea, feature your favourite beverage with some books instead.
  29. Borrow: Time for some library love. What was the last book you borrowed from the library? How long ago was it?
  30. #throwback: Have a go at recreating one of your old photos.
  31. Wrap-up: What books did you read this month?

I hope you can join me for #Ampersand2018 on Instagram! Let me know that you’re participating by commenting/reblogging so I can check out your photos!
